FUSE!

Hey Everyone! After a year's hiatus from working in salon, I am now happy to announce that I am working at Fuse Salon in Bristol, RI. It's located right downtown and it's the perfect little, cool, fun, laid back place that I've been looking for, for me and my clients. Erin, the owner is awesome and has been in the business for 20 yrs. She's worked in Providence, Seattle and Chapel Hill, NC. It's got a great vibe and a cute vintage decor. Perfect for guys and cool girls to hang out and not feel like they're in a hair salon. Haha. Check it out! I start Feb. 15th and will be there Thursdays and Saturdays. To book an apt. call 401-396-9885

Career Update

Hey Friends. Little update...At the end of September, I left Sarah Audrey Salon. I will value that experience and all the wonderful people I met there. I decided to take a break from the salon world. I am still doing hair for certain people where and when I can, but am currently working at Whole Foods Market.. and loving it. I am going back to my roots (excuse the pun) and persuing a holistic and natural approach in relation to Cosmetology. At the moment I am in an information gathering stage, reaquainting myself with products and learning a great deal about ingredients, chemicals, allergies, and how they effect the body. Also experimenting with new natural, organic, cruelty free products. Derm Organic, argan based shampoo and conditioner is something that I've been using for a while now, and I highly reccomend it. It is professional grade, organically derrived conditioning shampoo. Conditioning, sulfate free shampoos are growing in popularity as people are opting for products that promote the health of the hair and body. Plus, they are a must for color treated hair. Try  it!

Did you know Nicole went red?

What a surprise, My good friend Nicole decided to go red. This isn't exactly new news...she went red quite a few months ago. It was quite the process going from dark brown to bright red. Here's what we did.
First I did a full weaved, heavy highlight and then used Wella level 7 Red and Red-Violet over the whole thing.

The next service consisted of another highlight and this time we tried a Chi highlift Red and Red-Violet with 20 volume.

The next few services, we would occasionally throw a few highlights in but mostly stuck with the Chi Infra Red demi.

Nicole kept hoping for the red to be brighter. My beauty supply store stopped carrying Chi and I was forced to cook up a new scheme. I had searched online for the bold reds and found an informative blog. This girl had used Pravana Vivids Red and Magenta mixed. It was exactly the color Nicole wanted. It has lasted so long between touch ups. I have to say, Pravana Vivids is the best bold color demi around. Period.
See, even the kids love it!

Scott and Holly's wedding

Congratulations to my good friends, Scott and Holly Pacheco. I was lucky enough to be a part of their beautiful and super fun Hawaiin themed wedding/reception. Below are some of the highlights and pictures of hair that I styled.

^Mother of the Bride^

^Holly and Maureen^

Holly chose a style she found on Pinterest. 3 low braided buns. I added some extensions before hand and then styled the top back. More pics to come.

^Kristen^

Kristen asked for a bun with a twist in front. She has very thick hair so I broke the buns up into 2. I also knotted the buns for added interest.

Photo shoot

These are some of the pics from a photo shoot we did last month.
Model - Heidi Finn
Hair - Me
Make-up and photography - Nicole Mandel
Heidi wanted a natural bohemian hairstyle, but her dress was definitely Twiggyish, so we went with Neo-bohemian meets 60's mod. More pics to come at some point. :-)
